Vegetarianism

As you may have gathered from the above quotation, I’m a vegetarian. That’s right – no fish or meat. Did you know that 5.7% of the UK population are vegetarian, and this number is growing each year? Here are some sites to visit:

Singapore

A useful website is hungrygowhere, which contains a directory of most restaurants and cafes in Singapore, along with user submitted ratings. I also recommend visiting the Vegetarian Society Singapore website to find vegetarian restaurants close to MRT stations. Here are some recommendations of my own:

Healthy / organic

  • YES Natural.  Lorong 27 Geylang (near Aljunied MRT).  Fresh vegetable noodles in almond sauce highly recommended.  A lovely vegetarian bakery next door.
  • Taste of Natural. Clifford Centre B1 (Banquet food court).
  • 7 Sensations. Madras St (near Tekka Mall, The Verge). Some wonderful, creative vegetarian dishes.
  • LivinGreens.  Beach Rd (opposite The Concourse).
  • New Green Pasture Cafe.  Fortune Centre (4th Floor).  Korean bibimbap highly recommended.

South Indian

  • Sri Lukshmi Naarasimhan.  438 Serangoon Road (near Farrer Park MRT, exit G) –  Outstanding south indian meals at only $5.90 – prepared in home style.
  • Chella’s.  Serangoon Rd.  Sizzler Idli Manchurian highly recommended.
  • Raj Restaurant.  Syed Alwi Rd.  Special Mysore Masala dosa highly recommended.
  • Annalakshmi.  Chinatown Point B1.  Weekend lunch and dinner buffets.  Pay as you wish concept.
  • Komala’s @ Marine Cove.  East Coast Park, Area C. Right by the beach.  South indian food, served quick and with a smile.

Chinese

  • LingZhi.  Velocity @ Novena, 3rd Floor.  High tea dim sum buffet $10.20++ on weekdays and $15++ at weekends.
  • Divine Realm.  Blk 501, Hougang Avenue 8. Dumplings including Siew Mai and many other delicious vegetarian dishes.

Fusion

  • Café Salivation.  Syed Alwi Rd (next to Raj Restaurant).  Try the baked chimichangas, or the burgers – some excellent creations.
  • Green Room Cafe.  Bishan Park II (part of the Aramsa Spa).
  • Loving Hut. At Suntec Sky Garden or Parklane Mall. Great rice sets (try the ocean bliss!), noodles, grilled burger, tofu jackets, and much more.

Vegetarian friendly

  • Sukhothai.  Boat Quay.
  • Bali Thai.  Suntec City Mall (B1 by the fountain)
  • Cedele. Many branches. Great soups and sandwiches.
  • The Soup Spoon.  Many branches.  Great soups, sandwiches and salads.

London

  • Eat and Two Veg.  Marylebone High St.
  • Maoz Falafel. Old Compton St, Soho.
  • Mildred’s.  Lexington St, Soho.
