Spring is here… at last!

For some reason I seem to be fairly hopeless at updating my blog whilst I’m actually in the UK – in fact I haven’t posted anything here since I got back from my trip to India! Terrible I know ;-)

It’s been great having these 4 days off – the weather hasn’t been as good as was forecast, but it was fairly mild and I tried to make the most of it by spending as much time outdoors as possible. On Friday, I went to Kensington Gardens – a park that I used to walk through almost every day whilst a student at Imperial College. In fact I really miss my strolls through Kensington Gardena and Hyde Park these days!

On Sunday I drove to Welwyn Garden City and spent some time at Stanborough Park which has a great lake. On the way back I thought I’d continue driving further north and ended up at Shaw’s Corner, a cottage that George Bernard Shaw used to live in. I’m really amazed how close I am to real countryside – just 30 minutes drive and I’m passing through winding country roads with acres of farmland on each side.

The tulip photo was taken at Richmond Park on Monday – this is a really spectacular park that I’d never been to before. Richmond Park is quite different to most other parks in London, in that you can drive through a lot of it – which is handy given its enormity!

I have 2 trips coming up soon – going to Lille by Eurostar over the May Bank Holiday weekend, and then heading over to San Francisco around the middle of May for the Sun JavaOne conference.
